Camden County Enters Region Play Battle-Tested at 4-2.

Camden County heads into Region 1-7A play at 4-2 after navigating the region’s toughest non-region schedule.

The first six games have tested Camden County in just about every way possible.

There have been convincing wins, high-scoring shootouts, games decided in the final minutes and two losses separated by only eight combined points.

Now, after a well-timed bye week, the Wildcats turn their attention to the part of the schedule that matters most.

Region 1-7A play is here.

Camden enters the second half of the season with a 4-2 record, having scored 216 points while allowing 153.

The Wildcats are averaging 36.0 points per game and carry a +63 point differential into region play.

Perhaps more importantly, they arrive battle-tested.

Camden opened the season with a 35-21 victory over Brunswick, followed by an impressive 42-13 win over Glynn Academy in the Frank Smith Classic.

The Wildcats then suffered their first setback, a narrow 27-23 loss to Benedictine.

Camden responded with a thrilling 39-36 victory over Godby at Chris Gilman Stadium.

Another shootout followed against Ed White.

The Wildcats battled through multiple lead changes before the Commanders scored in the final minute to escape with a 48-44 victory.

Once again, Camden responded.

The Wildcats entered the bye week on the heels of a convincing 33-8 win over West Broward, improving to 4-2 and carrying momentum into region play.

Camden’s two losses have come by a combined eight points.

The Wildcats haven’t just faced adversity.

They’ve repeatedly shown an ability to respond to it.

Camden’s Offense Among Region’s Best

The numbers show just how productive Camden’s offense has been.

The Wildcats’ 216 points are tied with Colquitt County for third-most among Region 1-7A teams entering region play.

Camden’s 36.0 points per game also matches Colquitt County.

Only Valdosta and Lowndes have scored at a higher rate.

That production has come from an offense capable of attacking defenses in multiple ways, with playmakers emerging throughout the first six games.

Sean Green has developed into one of Camden’s top offensive threats, averaging 79.5 receiving yards per game while accounting for eight total touchdowns.

Malakhi Poole leads a productive ground attack at 69.5 rushing yards per game.

Defensively, William Smith has averaged 10.8 tackles per game while recording four sacks.

Maliek Patterson has helped anchor the secondary with three interceptions.

But individual statistics tell only part of the story.

Through six games, Camden has demonstrated that it can win comfortably, survive close games, respond after losses and compete when games turn into four-quarter battles.

Those experiences may prove valuable because the road ahead offers little room for error.

The Second Season Begins

Every Region 1-7A team entered this week with a winning record.

Lowndes: 6-0
Valdosta: 6-0
Richmond Hill: 5-1
Camden County: 4-2
Colquitt County: 4-2

Now those records effectively take a back seat.

Four region games will determine who earns a postseason berth and where each team will be seeded when November arrives.

For Camden, that journey begins with perhaps its biggest challenge yet: a trip to Lowndes.

After facing the Vikings, the Wildcats return to Chris Gilman Stadium to host Richmond Hill, travel to face Valdosta and close the regular season at home against Colquitt County.

There are no easy weeks in Region 1-7A.

But if the purpose of a non-region schedule is to prepare a football team for what comes next, Camden County has certainly been tested.

Six games. Four wins. Two narrow losses. The region’s toughest schedule. Four games remaining.

Everything is still in front of the Wildcats.

The first half of the season prepared them.

Now the second season begins.
