Wildcats Run Past West Broward on Homecoming Night
KINGSLAND, Ga. — Homecoming night belonged to the Wildcats.
Camden County controlled the game from the opening quarter Friday night at Chris Gilman Stadium, using a powerful rushing attack and a relentless defensive performance to defeat the West Broward Bobcats, 33–8.
The Wildcats built an 18–0 halftime lead, held West Broward to just one score and piled up 16 tackles for loss and six sacks as Camden improved to 4–2 on the season heading into its bye week.
Poole Strikes First
Camden wasted little time establishing the ground game. Malakhi Poole put the Wildcats on the board in the first quarter with the first of his two touchdowns on the night, giving Camden an early 7–0 lead.
The Wildcats continued to apply pressure in the second quarter. Jakavious Perkins found the end zone for Camden’s second rushing touchdown, and quarterback Xavier Collins helped finish the possession with a successful two-point conversion to push the advantage to 15–0.
Camden added a field goal before the break, and by halftime the Wildcats had built an 18–0 advantage while their defense had kept the Bobcats completely off the scoreboard.
It was exactly the type of first half Camden wanted on Homecoming night — control the football, win at the line of scrimmage and force West Broward to play from behind.
Camden Answers West Broward
The Bobcats finally broke through in the third quarter, scoring a touchdown and converting the two-point attempt to make it 18–8.
But Camden never allowed the game to become uncomfortable. Jesse Newsome answered for the Wildcats, powering his way into the end zone for Camden’s third rushing touchdown of the night. The score pushed the advantage to 25–8 and quickly erased any momentum West Broward had generated.
The Wildcats then turned back to Poole to finish it. Poole broke loose for his second touchdown in the fourth quarter, and Camden converted the two-point attempt to make it 33–8. That would be the final.
Wildcats Dominate on the Ground
Camden’s offense didn’t need to put the football in the air very often. Instead, the Wildcats repeatedly attacked West Broward on the ground, finishing with 200 rushing yards on 31 carries — an average of 6.5 yards per attempt.

Jakavious Perkins: 8 carries, 61 yards, 1 TD
Jesse Newsome: 21 yards, 1 TD
Adrien Vigil: 19 yards
Xavier Collins: 11 yards

The Wildcats attempted just nine passes, with Collins completing six, but Friday night’s offensive identity was established firmly on the ground.
All four Camden touchdowns came via the rushing attack.
Defense Takes Over
While the offense controlled the game on the ground, Camden’s defense made sure West Broward never had an opportunity to establish much rhythm.
The Wildcats finished the night with:
16 tackles for loss
6 sacks
14 quarterback hurries
4 pass breakups
1 forced fumble
Will Smith was at the center of the defensive effort, finishing with a team-high 14 tackles, three tackles for loss and three sacks.
Kingston Melton and Cedric Davis each recorded 10 tackles, while Maliek Patterson finished with eight tackles, including a tackle for loss and a sack.
The pressure came from throughout the defense. Camden consistently pushed into the Bobcats’ backfield, disrupted plays before they could develop and forced West Broward into difficult situations.
Most importantly, Camden kept a zero on the scoreboard throughout the entire first half and surrendered only eight points on the night.
A Homecoming Win
After playing several games this season that weren’t decided until the closing minutes, Friday night offered a different kind of finish for Camden County.
The Wildcats didn’t need a dramatic comeback.
They didn’t need a final possession.
They established control early and never gave it back.
An 18–0 halftime advantage became a 33–8 Homecoming victory, powered by 200 rushing yards and a defense that spent much of the evening in the West Broward backfield.
The victory moves Camden County to 4–2 and sends the Wildcats into their bye week with an opportunity to rest, recover and prepare for the next challenge.
Up Next: Lowndes
When Camden returns to action, the Wildcats will hit the road for Valdosta to take on the Lowndes Vikings, beginning the next stretch of the season with a major test away from Chris Gilman Stadium.
For now, Camden heads into the open week with momentum — and a convincing 33–8 Homecoming victory to build on.
